When selecting a rug for your living room, rugs should be big enough so furniture fits on top without being cramped. If you furniture is against a wall, it is recommended to have the two front legs os all the furniture on top of the rug. You can use smaller size rugs to define certain seating spaces or to sit underneath a coffee table.
Lay a rug down in your bedroom so it extends all the way around the bed, or alternatively it can extend on either side leaving the foot of the bed directly on the floor.
For your dining room, your table and chairs should all fit on top of the rug.
